" The Runaway" by Rockwell

In the Painting "The Runaway, Rockwell's painting shows a young boy, who is apparently running away, and seems to be having a very comfortable conversation with a police officer and counter waiter. This painting, which was done in the 1950's, seems to be a perfect little photogragh, showing America as a very nice and friendly country. Wheras in retrospect, the 1950's was a time of turmoil and counter culture. So this painting is showing all of the good things about America to make it seem perfect, but is purposely leaving out the bad.
