The World State would most definatley be a dystopia because they have so many restrictions on social behaviors to give the thought of happiness. They almost completely destroty the people's personality and individuality due to predetermined lifestyles and replacing human births with that of machines, which creates identical people. They also destroy people's opinions to other religions, bibles and literature are no more, they are now all replaced with "T's" for Henry Ford's model T. By taking away the citizens individuality and social abilities, this society would be considered a dystopia.
1.) The world state has created equality and conformity in many ways, one way in which they create equality is by the seperation of people into the five different caste systems. These caste systems are made not by humans but human products in the incubators, then when these fertilized eggs are born, they are seperated into their predetermined caste system, either alpha, beta gama,delta and epsilon." So there they are predtermining someones entire life. They also do operant conditioning and hypnopaedia so that these certain classes like certain things and meet their desired response level. And lastly, with the creation of Soma, they want everyone to basically live forever."And now we proceed to rub in the lesson with mild electric shocks"(Huxley page 34). They use electric shocks on the Delta infants to condition them to be afraid of books and nature so that they will not interfere with the order of caste beliefs. With these methods, the World State is controlling the entire society by trying to make everyone equal.
2.) The World State has greatly reduced conflict with things such as civil rights, by taking out parenthood or human births, they have greatly lowered the tender and loving relationships in humans. They also lower relationships with sex orgy's with community workers. "96 identical twins for 96 identical machines" (Huxley page 21). This is just another way in which they take away from someone's individuality.Now modern day religions are considered as corrupting and fake history, replacing the cross is the T symbol.
3.)This society has created happiness and conformity is through hypnopaedia phrases that make people feel happiness no matter their class rank."Yes, everyone is happy now"(Huxley page 86).Lenina says this as she recalls hearing it many times in her sleep, a hypnopaedia phrase to institute the feeling oh happiness. They also institue happiness through the perfect life of the people and the easy sex that comes with it. These people feel perfect in everyway which makes them extremely happy. One way that every adult in that society has conformed is behavior in public. Every adult is afraid if they will behave abnormally in public or at work, so therefore they have conformed to the "normal" behaviors through the eyes of the World State.
