Do you feel like Big Brother has won? Why or Why not?

-I actually feel like big brother has won this battle because if they can convince one of the biggest opponents to the party to love and believe everything that they say, is a huge victory. Winston was always protesting Big Brother, from committing thought crime, writing the diary, and have sex with Julia, he was always objecting the party's way of life."Winstonpushed the memory out of his mind,it was a false memory" (Orwell page 243). Winston finally admits that everything he had learned in the past that was bad about big brother, was a lie or a messup of the  brain. Through their means of torture, Winston finally cracked and now has faith and trust in everything Big Brother says and does, he is considered to be cured now.

What is one way that Big Brother can be thrown down?

-I think that the only way to overthrow big Brother is what Winston thought of, use the proles."If there is hope it lies in the proles" (Orwell page 60). These group of people have many more numbers of people than big brother, they could easily form together and take them down. Since the thought police, and other forms of spying don't spend so much time on the proles, they could easily find others that oppose Big Brother and finally take him down. The only problem with this solution, is that the proles don't have a leader or the right minds to put this plan together. Once they get past all the intellectual stuff, they could use their sheer numbers to overthrow the party.

What do you think happens to Winston at the end of the novel?

-I think that Winston will go out and purposely go against Big Brother and his ways just say he can be killed, "The long hoped for bullet entering my brain" (Orwell page 245). Winston was filled with joy after hearing the news of victory, and in that same time he realized his victory over himself and his new found love for the party, which he is now illing to die for. So I am predicting he will try to protest the party so he can die for it.
